The Geez Freeze mission is to provide creative signature frozen treats and in doing so build relationships and community while offering training opportunities to future young entrepreneurs.
Our vision is to own and operate multiple mobile vehicles serving frozen treats. The Geez Freeze will serve as a training ground for youth who want to work in the food industry. We have a vision of running multiple locations of mobile facilities and brick & mortars.
At the Geez Freeze we do what we do because we believe in the power of education and opportunities. Our doors will always be opened to local youth who are looking for ways to expand their learning and explore career opportunities.
At the Geez Freeze quality is queen! We believe that anything worth doing is only worth doing if doing right! For us this means a commitment to top notch training programs, the best ingredients, warm and welcoming customer service, treating our employees with care and much, much more.
We want the Geez Freeze to feel like home for our customers. We are a place where our community members can come, be themselves, have a happy experience and feel the joy of being amongst caring folks.
Gayle Hart, is the youngest of eighteen children, she was born and raised in the Western Addition in San Francisco. Her father was a chef at the Fairmont Hotel and her mom who worked at the Shriners Hospital would cook daily for the family. Of course Gayle would help! So, you can say that food & cooking has always been in her blood.
Growing up in Fillmore with a shining example of a thriving black economy armed young Gayle with dreams of one day becoming an entrepreneur. It wasn’t until the age of 20, when she worked for Booker T. Washington Community Center that she began to crystalize that idea. Gayle found a new passion and purpose in life. Her position there allowed her to try on new things. Through coaching basketball and softball, running obstacle courses and more Gayle began to see the impact that could be had on the youth from her community when spaces to socialize and gather were made available. She was hooked!
She wasn’t sure exactly how yet, but she knew she wanted to bring her loves together food, building community & working with youth. She decided to enroll in the Haight and Ashbury Culinary Program and later interned at UCSF under Head Chef Roy Sullivan.
Today she brings to the Bay and more importantly to Fillmore The Geez Freeze a frozen treat mobile business. One that serves a training ground for local youth while also offering up delicious and irresistible indulgences, creating a safe space for community members to gather. Gayle loves the fact that she can now be one of the shining examples of that thriving black Fillmore economy that once filled her with a dream.
